Openlink launches cloud-based Risk Analytics Service offering for commodities trading and risk management

27 June 2018

NEW YORK—27 June 2018: ION, the largest global provider of trading, analytics and risk management solutions for capital markets, commodities and treasury management, today announced the release of a new cloud-based Risk Analytics Service offering for Openlink Rightangle clients.  This marks the latest enhancement to the ION Commodities portfolio, an evolving set of market-leading commodities trading and risk management (CTRM) solutions.
As energy and commodity-intensive companies expand trading in physical and financial commodities, they seek tools to support sophisticated Value at Risk (VaR) calculations, stress testing and reporting—any time of day or night, and as often as needed.  The Risk Analytics Service offering, which runs in the Openlink Cloud environment, is fully integrated with any on-premises or cloud installation of Rightangle S16 and provides unlimited computing power to support end-of-day and intraday analysis and reporting.  Clients can seamlessly synchronize and organize data from disparate systems for faster data analysis, leading to more efficient, proactive and effective decision-making.
Houston, Texas, based Crestwood Equity Partners LP (NYSE: CEQP) is a master limited partnership that owns and operates midstream businesses in multiple unconventional shale resource plays across the United States.  Crestwood Equity Partners is engaged in the gathering, processing, treating, compression, storage and transportation of natural gas; storage, transportation, terminalling, and marketing of NGLs; and gathering, storage, terminalling and marketing of crude oil.
Crestwood Equity’s commercial team—including accounting, trading, marketing and risk management professionals—became an early partner in evaluating and evolving the Risk Analytics Service offering.  Early use enabled the Crestwood Equity team to better understand how the Service could provide additional value in recognizing risks and identifying opportunities to generate revenue and improve margins.
Steven Dougherty, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer at Crestwood Equity Partners, said, “Our team has an insatiable appetite for all information related to commodity purchases and sales, freight, and inventory performance.  With the Risk Analytics Service, information flows directly into our reporting systems and provides valuable analysis.  It’s a powerful tool that helps our organization shift focus—from capturing information to analyzing information in a meaningful and value-added manner.”
“The Risk Analytics Service offering addresses mission-critical analysis and reporting needs for energy and commodity companies,” said Ji Li, Vice President of Product Management at Openlink.  “Our clients must make sense of enormous amounts of data residing in multiple places.  They need the flexibility to consolidate and analyze information anytime, and make sound decisions that move their business forward.”
