The Role:
We are currently looking for a Senior Reporter to lead our coverage on DACH M&A, private equity and deal financing activity. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of breaking news on major M&A situations and an existing contact book of advisory, private equity and corporate sources across DACH. They will join our global network of over 350 ION Analytics journalists. You’ll work within a fast-paced team writing scoops on significant deals involving listed and private targets across Germany and the wider DACH region – and providing breaking news & analysis throughout the deal cycle.
Our coverage spans transaction scoops through to unveiling deal terms, tracking private equity industry moves and deal financing exclusives, with a particular focus on private credit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce 15-20 exclusive articles per month, breaking news on German and wider DACH region corporates’ M&A or debt/equity issuance plans by interviewing decision makers, C-level execs, portfolio managers, bankers, lawyers and other sources
- Attend key conferences, trade fairs and relevant industry events in order to conduct exclusive interviews
- Work independently and in collaboration with M&A and fixed income-focused colleagues and the wider team of reporters in EMEA
- Working closely with editorial capabilities across the group to deliver actionable, data-led human insights to user personas as varied as coverage bankers, corporate executives, debt investors, infrastructure advisors and funds, etc.
- Produce a steady flow of copy under tight deadlines
Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Should have excellent English speaking and writing skills, with fluency in German essential.
- Able to bring substantial reporting experience and a bulging source book from another financial news service, newspaper or online publication to the table. This is a senior hire.
- Well driven and tenacious
- Able to work both on own initiative and collaboratively
- Willing to travel to key events in the region and be eligible to work in one of the advertised offices.
