Network Design Engineer – 4307

The Role:
 
This is an exciting time to join ION where you will be joining a rapidly growing team.  As a network engineer comfortable working in the hosted infrastructure space (network/systems/databases/private and public cloud), you will be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting a global network critical to supporting our clients global trading environments.
The successful candidate will have a track record in hands on management and support of global enterprise scale network architecture coupled with significant knowledge of technologies, standards, and industry guidelines as they apply to the hybrid hosted infrastructure space. Essential will be a can-do operational attitude which will see the successful candidate become part of a growing global operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design responsibility for our client deployments, as well as our internal transformation projects. Working with our network architects the role will ensure client delivery is scoped, designed and documented appropriately.  Additionally, the role will help transform and execute our next level of network transformation and help take Ion our zero trust journey.  Ensuring that our network is secure, resilient and performant, and remains agile to support our business change.
  • Technical input into solutions  design for support of new business requirements, including creation of technical requirements for third party delivery partners
  • Aid design and implementation of global network re-architecture, including a move to future zero trust model
  • Responsibility, with the network architects for driving secure networking and connectivity in our public cloud environment in AWS
  • Provision of level 3 support for incidents and problem resolution when deep expertise is needed
  • Drive our network automation to enable agility within out public and private cloud environments
  • Creation, maintenance and review of operational and technical design documentation
  • Raise, technically verify and implement change control requests
  • Update and audit change management database entries as needed
  • Interact with other team members globally  and other teams to progress projects, designs and incidents
  • Engagement to mentor and guide with the wider global NOC teams to aid smooth running of our support environment

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications :

  • Proven solutions design and architecture design for secure global  hybrid cloud network implementations
  • Proven third line support experience in a time-sensitive, high availability customer-facing environment
  • Proven network support and administration experience with strong hands on experience working with,  deploying and supporting BGP, OSPF and IP multicast within large scale hybrid enterprise environment
  • Experience with designing, deploying and running micro-segmented in hybrid environments
  • Experience with Automation tools, scripting, IaC in AWS including Terraform
  • Experience working with and supporting distributed datacenter and hybrid cloud compute services
  • Excellent troubleshooting/problem solving skills with familiarity with network monitoring, management and diagnostic tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to manage communications across globally distributed teams
  • Ability to support irregular working hours including weekend shift working patterns
  • Experience one or more of the following vendor platforms (Cisco/Juniper/Arista/PaloAlto/F5)
  • Formal accreditation (AWS cloud network engineer, architect, cloud security architect) a benefit
