The Role
Ion Analytics, is seeking a North America Managing Editor, M&A, to oversee editorial operations for its Mergermarket and Dealreporter publications.
The Managing Editor will oversee a over 30 M&A reporters across North America who provide forward-looking, investigative, actionable news and analysis on both public and private M&A deals, from middle market buyouts to multi-billion mega-deals.
The role reports directly to the Executive Editor, M&A, and will require close collaboration with other key editorial stakeholders within Ion Analytics.

The role will suit a highly motivated, entrepreneurial self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom environment and has the ability and desire innovate with new coverage ideas to meet the demands of a highly sophisticated community of investment bankers, hedge fund managers, private equity and corporate executives, among other M&A professionals.
Key Responsibilities
In charge of editorial strategy and execution for M&A content across both private and public markets including: corporate strategy interviews; M&A auctions; private equity deals; venture capital fundraisings; pre-IPO situations; public mergers and buyouts; corporate divestitures; shareholder activism; merger control.
Managing team of M&A reporters and editors in North America; responsible for hiring new staff and managing overall performance
People management: prioritizing growth and development for team members, handling personnel matters as they arise
Managing the daily flow of content on our Mergermarket & Dealreporter platforms; managing editing process
Meet regional targets for content production and ensure the highest standards for quality and accuracy in line with our values
Being in constant touch with market participants to understand deals and trends, helping to shape our editorial direction
Working closely with other editorial stakeholders as well as commercial and product development stakeholders to help innovate with next-generation content and analytics for M&A market participants
Regular meetings with banks, law firms, hedge funds, PE firms and corporates that rely on our content
Engaging with our community by representing our brands at industry events and on podcasts and video.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
At least 5 years’ experience in covering financial markets as a reporter/editor; direct experience of M&A, private equity, plus
5 years plus work experience managing an editorial team preferred
Proven successful track record in managing journalists
Outstanding presentation and interpersonal skills
Proven track record in working in a collaborative, team-oriented & diverse environment
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills; high EQ
