Head of UX Architecture

The Role
We are looking for an experienced UX leader to head ION’s User Experience Architecture practice across the group’s verticals and their suite of professional financial products and services.
 
You understand well the complexities of the professional finance and investment banking industry. You will be helping teams navigate the space, and will be championing UX oriented processes and ways of working to shape and further evolve market-leading products which have the highest impact, usability, and success.

A portfolio demonstrating how you work as well as outcomes/deliverables is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the UX Design team’s long-term vision and strategic direction, in alignment with the business strategy across ION’s verticals.
  • Partner with cross-functional colleagues across Product, Engineering, Sales, Support and Marketing to establish relationships, cultivate and champion a user centered design approach that places user needs at the heart of product development initiatives. Be comfortable challenging an “it’s always been done this way” mindset.
  • Oversee, guide and ensure alignment across the UXA team to define and deliver UX initiatives that will provide industry-leading experiences for our clients and users. 
  • Establish and promote UX Design excellence upholding quality standards. Maintain and evolve a structured, yet flexible UX framework that leverages generative and evaluative user research methodologies, HCI principles and psychology, IA activities and data informed UI design that delivers with confidence against both user and business requirements.
  • Guide and evolve a complex, sophisticated design system and its processes that powers multiple products  across business areas with different requirements.
  • Lead, manage and develop a diverse team of talented UX designers across UK, Italy, India, US and Sweden. Inspire, upskill, coach and mentor them fostering a culture of inclusion, collaboration, support, empowerment and continuous learning.

Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven track record and experience leading and managing teams that design and deliver professional financial products with significant scope.
  • Someone comfortable delivering and advocating in a complex stakeholder environment.
  • 15+ years of UX experience, minimum 5 years leading teams.
  • Preferably have a degree to Master’s level in HCI, Design or a related discipline, otherwise being able to demonstrate deep knowledge and expertise of the UX practice and principles across user research and UX design methods.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to articulate design strategies across different levels.
