Job Description
This is a high profile role for technical operations candidates to join a Cloud Operations within a major software house. The right candidate will be a member of the growing Cloud Ops team with key responsibilities in service engagement with our clients.
 
The ideal candidate must be conversant with Linux Operating system for Managing/Administrations and procedures around the management of a secure data network, the physical servers and environments will not be at our site and will be physically managed by third parties, we are responsible for managing some of the infrastructure components as well as all of our applications running at those sites.
 
We are looking for bright, articulate candidates with strong drive and capability to learn and expand their current knowledge. Working as a team covering up to 24x7 hours the candidates must exhibit a high degree of professionalism including the ability to escalate when needed, a desire to provide high customer satisfaction and be reliable.
 
The range of equipment and applications to be managed will also be expanding. Much of the expansion will be on Linux and Azure/AWS based platforms.

Role: Cloud Ops Technical Analyst

Key Responsibilities
 
Daily operations activities including Incident & Problem management, backups, environmental alert management and software rollout.
Planning and Implementation of Changes to the Environment and the Applications.
Interact, discuss, and troubleshoot issues with client to resolve them on priority and provide excellent customer service.
To be involved in writing and modifying scripts for application deployments as well as system monitoring.
Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.
Perform Patch management tasks include: maintaining current knowledge of available patches, ensuring that patches are installed properly, testing systems after installation, and documenting all associated procedures.
Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
Hands-on Technical support within the Managed Service team
 
Required Skills and Knowledge
Previous working experience as a Linux Administrator for 3 years.
 
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/ Information Systems/ Master of Computer Applications with up to 3 years' experience.
 
Strong troubleshooting skills in various Linux operating system.
Formal qualification with Linux (RHEL Certification an advantage)..
Shell Scripting
Good knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
Experience with Azure or Amazon Web Services is plus.
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations, ITSM discipline.
Citrix / Thin client technologies
Data storage and hosting environments
AWS/Azure knowledge would be an added benefit
Web technologies (e.g. Apache)
Proven experience within an operational environment, including servers running Linux, Windows, and utilizing a Storage Area Network, and a major industry standard suite of server monitoring and backup tools.
