The Role:

ION is seeking talented, an enthusiastic and productive individual to join the Derivatives Tools & Automation department. This department is responsible for developing and maintaining a suite of tools that are used to orchestrate, build and deploy ION software onto internal and customer systems leveraging CI/CD principles.  
As a member of the Derivatives Tools and Automation team you would be responsible for the development and support of the OTA (One Touch Orchestration) platform, which is used alongside third-party applications like Jenkins and Rundeck to provide the backbone of the tools used to provide the automated solution used within ION Markets.
This demanding and varied role will offer many technical and professional challenges, with the opportunity to learn about global financial trading markets

Key Responsibilities:
 
To build, configure, test and deploy the OTA platforms.
To build, configure, test and deploy the third party applications used by OTA plus secondary in-house systems.
To enable, configure, test and deploy additional or new services and software features.
To analyse, design, develop, configure, test & deploy solutions for specific ION platforms.
To ensure that all client systems/configurations are "fit for purpose" upon automated delivery.
To provide support before, during and after the roll-out of software changes.
To write and maintain technical documentation relating to the upgrading, maintenance and deployment of ION systems, products and services.
To attend internal meetings to discuss the progress of assigned tasks / key initiatives.
To liaise with internal ION teams and provide regular progress updates for their key issues or deliverables.
To escalate issues to your line manager or project manager as appropriate.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications :

Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language.
Must have a degree in a Computer Science/Engineering or numerate discipline of grade 2:1 or above (or regional equivalent) or relevant industrial experience. 
To have experience of Linux or UNIX.
Must be able to demonstrate good attention to detail, be organised and proactive.
Must be able to demonstrate initiative.
Must be able to demonstrate a strong analytical approach to problem solving.
Must be able to work as part of a team, whilst also assuming responsibility for your own work.
Must be able to take ownership of assigned tasks, anticipate potential problems & take prompt pre-emptive actions, if required. Ensures that all tasks are completed to a very high standard.
Must be eager to learn new skills to enhance capability.
Preferred:
To have knowledge or a demonstrable interest of equity and/or futures and options markets.
To have prior software application implementation/support/testing experience.
To have experience of networking principles.
To have experience in using issue management software.
To have knowledge of Java, C, C++ or any other high-level class based object orientated programming language.
To have knowledge of SQL and Relational Databases.
To have experience of using version control software like Perforce or Git.
