Senior Product Manager – Power and Renewables – CTRM – 5377

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager with business knowledge of the North American power markets and related operations, with experience in product management, business analysis, implementation consulting, and/or development of Commodity Management Solutions (CMS), to join our product management team.  
In addition to being ION’s power and renewables industry expert, you will have the opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of ION’s CMS portfolio and drive the company’s strategic product strategy and roadmap for power markets across all relevant ION products.

Your responsibilities

Set product vision, direction and roadmap for ION Commodities and North American Power markets 
•Be the ION Commodities “market” expert, understand market drivers, overall industry structure, customer needs (today and tomorrow), competitive position
•Provide market sizing, target realistic realization goals based on tiers, geographic, company structure and other market sizing dimensions 
•Define and drive investment strategy - articulating ION Commodities strategy for the market segment and realization plan (build/buy/partner)
•Collaborate with technical product managers to translate market needs into product
•Own product positioning framework by customer type / size / market
•Be the internal and external evangelist for offerings, working with the sales channel and key customers
•Responsible for business cases for larger, complex initiatives in Power space

Ownership of Industry, Clients and Markets
•Communicate and educate organization on broader industry and customer behaviors (not only specific customer needs)
•Communicate market dynamics, customer pain points to product development and create supporting business case to validate / justify product investments to help ION Commodities monetize.
•Coach/mentor Technical Product Managers
•Understand customer and prospect needs through client and project interactions, intracompany feedback, and marketplace research and assessment
•Participate in User Groups / Special Interest Groups

Responsible for Sales enablement
•Responsible for product related communication/messaging that ensures the sales organization is current on the latest products functionality as well as corresponding value proposition. 
•Ownership of Competitor Analysis and win against material - Collect and communicate competitive trends and competitor’s strategies, financial profile, profitability, etc.
•Support RFP process and prospect interactions as needed

Ownership of Product Marketing Material
•Work with Marketing and Sales teams to help them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. Provide content for product related collateral and sales tools
•Strategy for the market (technical, partnerships, GTM model, pricing strategy, competitive differentiation)
•Build effective Go-To-Market models and strategy for existing and newly launched products in the corresponding ownership area

Your skills, experience, and qualifications
Required
In depth knowledge of: 
•Regional Power markets in North America
•Front/middle/back office business processes
•Market standards and regulatory requirements
•10+ years experience in energy or commodity markets
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills
•Ability to think strategically, have short and long term views, and have a business focus
•Strong communication and presentation skills
•Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with external and internal customers (Sales, Account Management, Professional Services, and Development)
•Intrinsic desire to understand the “why” behind each problem
•Strong organizational skills
•Ability to express ideas and concerns clearly, concisely, and logically
•Proficiency in personal productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio or comparable)
Preferred
•Experience in other regional energy markets 
•Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) software experience beneficial
•Experience working with complementary software and or integrations, such as exchanges and ISOs, market data providers, and ERPs
•Understanding of technical architecture, frameworks, and database
