What are we trying to do?
We see an increased need for the wide business to explore and unveil the value hidden in the big variety of data assets available in the group. We want to grow substantially the data science team to scale up the modelling capabilities and the innovative solutions offered to external and internal clients. As a big player of services and information retrieval in many aspects of the Financial Markets, we want to provide our clients with premium data quality and rigorous analytical approach, in order to enable them to discover and leverage value in their business. To achieve this, we iteratively feed our product roadmaps with client needs and sentiments inferred from data, we innovate through data-driven product functionalities, we link product offerings with the analysis of business processes.
 
What do we need help with?
We need people with a quantitative background that can apply a rigorous scientific approach to analyze and extract value from the data assets available in the group. We need people that can frame the business problems under study, propose innovative modelling, find the relevant data, use advanced statistics and data modelling/visualization, present methods and findings/solutions. We need people that can collaborate with a wide variety of teams, deal with quickly changing priorities and projects, iteratively test and refine the solutions we provide to unmet (and often, not completely known) needs.
 
What will you do?
You will be exposed to high-level business ideas for new products and new technologies in the industry. You’ll be asked to form a biased opinion, look for counterexamples, come up with proposals and tests to corroborate or discharge the hypothesis, unveil dynamics that keep us and our clients ahead of the competition.
You’ll be able to put at work the recent advances in technology for big data (data processing/visualization and machine learning) to imagine, customize, and engineer innovative solutions.
 
 
What you’ll need to know:
You need to be able to model and abstract relevant dimensions in the problems under study. You need to have a scientific mindset and approach to problem-solving. You need to be able to structure the manipulation of large sets of data. You need to be able to suggest what can make the analysis better, which data can cross-check the assumptions, how we can retrieve those data in an effective and scalable way. Working knowledge of Python is required - in alternative, R or Matlab.
 
 
Required capabilities:
·         PhD in Mathematics, Physics or other scientific disciplines. Previous experience in modelling complex problems.
·         Previous strong experience in scripting, especially for data analysis and visualization.
·         Knowledge of Python, or R, or Matlab.
·         Knowledge of BI tools (like Power BI) is a plus.
·         Industry knowledge is not essential.
·         Fluent in English.
·         Team player.
·         Be creative and innovative.

Job Location: 
This position is for a full-time, permanent contract based in Pisa.
