The Role

We are looking for a candidate who has a proven track record in building a B2B brand across the UK and international markets, a sharp eye for detail and passion for leading successful teams. You won't be shy of rolling your sleeves up and delivering great outcomes individually, but you'll also have an eye for the strategic plan and keeping the team on course. Project management, workflow and operational skills are key to this role as we shift from a reactive to proactive support model.

We’re looking for a passionate, energetic, creative professional to become a part of our core leadership team and act as guardian of our brand’s tone, look, and feel across all channels. Reporting to the Head of Communications, you’ll lead, energize, and motivate a talented team of multi-discipline designers across 3 time-zones, to deliver your vision for the ION brand in line with the senior leadership of the group.

As a holistic thinker with a flair for creative strategy, you’ll be able to utilise our creative in-house brains to unify our brand across all platforms, pushing the boundaries of trends and innovation, while managing expectations and maintaining true to our core ethics, culture and values.

Key Responsibilities

Own & set the creative direction for the brand: You will be accountable for our brand and ensure that our brand proposition connects with customers in the most compelling way. You will work directly with leadership – to understand their vision, identifying and executing their priorities while being a subject matter expert
Present and communicate what ‘good’ looks like: Working alongside the Head of Communications you will be responsible for Brand Strategy, navigating the multi-journey landscape and aligning the companies ‘vision’. You will offer expertise across marketing campaigns
Coach and inspire an in-house creative team: Managing a team of designers through 3 team leads you will establish great working relationships and help create a positive, collaborative and supportive working environment. You will be accountable for working closely with your direct reports to understand their career objectives, identify development opportunities and establish their career path. You will be responsible for:
PowerPoint Design team
Marketing Design team
Pursuit team – new function
Brand and Design team management: Manage the team operations, objective and processes. Facilitate weekly meetings
Direct our creative strategy: You will ensure it is executed across the business and with stakeholders and internal disciplines within the wider team. You will also strategically develop new product launches in line with Marketing professionals working closely with the traffic flow operators to manage expectations
Work collaboratively with teams within ION: You will work closely with our UXD team to ensure a seamless on-brand customer experience across marketing channels and product
Produce creative assets: You will have a hands-on approach and pick up design work when needed, supporting on operational and strategic presentations directly linked to the senior leadership ranging from digital assets, through to print artwork and PowerPoint presentations
Curate and own the London studio: Art director of the ‘soft’ community within our London offices – the ‘Studio’ is the hive of creativity and showcase of our team, your role will be responsible for this space
Influence processes and best practices - You will proactively look to improve the tools our teams work with and research and adopt new ideas that allow us to stay ahead of the curve and across different locales
Build and grow an in-house Pursuit and Bid function - You will work alongside the Head of Content and Copy to build out a new team that supports top-level business targets globally – to improve ION’s chances of winning

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Experience in a senior design role, with a portfolio that demonstrates strategic thinking, high creative standards in typography and design layout with a strategic design approach across platforms and mediums
Experience working for a FinTech would be beneficial, but by no means necessary
Experience in managing creative members of the team and workflow / process
Enthusiastic and collaborative
Experience working within a pursuit or bid function
Have a vision, a deep-rooted understanding of branding – thinking at scale
The ability to infuse your own creative ideas with our brand pillars and produce designs that are on-brand, yet still fresh and conceptual
Fluent in core Adobe CC (Id, Ai, Ps.)
Commercially aware with a creative eye
A global thinker with an open mind, big ideas, and the curiosity to pursue them
The ability to take initiative, be proactive and make connections within the company
You will manage, prioritize and deliver your projects efficiently with the ability to be reactive to business needs as necessary (we use Monday. com for project management)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Excellent attention to detail and understanding of the relationship between brand strategy and design
The ability to ‘challenge’ and say ‘no’ in order to manage expectations around your team
Good written English
