The Role

We are looking for a London-based reporter to cover Public M&A activity across the Energy sector as well as reporting on the fast-growing ESG space. The successful candidate will join our global network of over 500 dedicated journalists. You’ll work within a fast-paced team writing scoops on significant deals involving listed and private targets across Europe and providing breaking news and analysis throughout the deal life cycle. Our coverage spans from highlighting a potential transaction through to scooping the deal details and analysing reviews by competition authorities. 

Key Responsibilities

●Produce exclusive articles and break news across the energy sector and ESG space, anticipating corporate events at listed companies 
●Cover the life cycle of a public deal, from announcement until completion, analysing and reporting on key risks 
●Attend key conferences and relevant industry events in order to conduct exclusive sideline interviews 
●Work independently and in collaboration with M&A and fixed income-focused colleagues and the wider team of reporters in EMEA 
●Work closely with editorial capabilities across the group to deliver actionable, data-led human insights to user personas as varied as coverage bankers, corporate executives, debt investors, infrastructure advisors and funds
●Produce a steady flow of copy under tight deadlines 

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications

●Excellent English speaking and writing skills
●Ability to bring substantial reporting experience and a bulging source book from another financial news service, newspaper or online publication to the table
●Able to work both on own initiative and collaboratively
●Willing to travel to key events
●Eligible to work in the UK

Preferred
●Previous experience covering the energy sector as well as a contact book in the space would be an advantage
●A track record of breaking news
●Fluency in another major European language
