The Role
The Anti-Corruption Report (www.anti-corruption.com) is the leading subscription information service focused on global anti-corruption law and related governance, risk and compliance issues. We combine vigorous reporting and proprietary legal analysis to generate actionable insights on critical business issues and Fortune 100 general counsels rely on us to define best practices. Part of the Ion Analytics group of companies – which in turn is owned by ION Group, a global provider of trading, analytics and risk management solutions to financial institutions and others – the service is well-positioned for significant growth. We are looking for an Associate Editor to drive that growth.
Key Responsibilities
Research, report and write in-depth long-form articles of various types addressing the hardest questions facing anti-corruption practitioners, best practices for the industry and other topics relevant to our subscribers;
Develop and maintain relationships with outside and in house counsel in the anti-corruption compliance and enforcement space with the goals of:
understanding the “pain points,”
cultivating sources for articles,
developing a pipeline of contributed articles,
gathering industry intelligence; and
exploring event and other collaboration opportunities;
Attend and report on selected industry events and webinars;
Identify article topics, themes, trends and ideas that are central to the day-to-day business practices of our subscribers – primarily through engagement with sources and secondarily through reading, attendance at conferences and other information gathering;
Attend weekly sales and editorial strategy discussions;
Edit articles for publication, including by contributors and assist the team in the closing process of the publication each week;
Collaborate on planning of issues, including the content and order of each issue;
Solicit and develop guest articles and guide them through publication; and
Help manage selected freelance writers, including assigning them articles and helping them develop questions and sources.
Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree preferred;
Member in a good standing of at least one state bar preferred;
At least three years of practical experience as a lawyer dealing with anti-corruption or related issues; or five years of deep reporting on legal and compliance issues;
Excellent reporting, writing, research and analytical abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to consistently create engaging, sophisticated articles as well as shorter updates requiring minimal editing under deadline;
Excellent networking abilities;
Facility with website production; and
Excellent proofreading skills.
